The Amoraria Project Is Awarded Best Urban Renovation
The Amouraia Project is mostly defined in the purest essence of rehabilitation of a historic and run-down neighborhood. The intervention centered on the Largo das Olarias and the surrounding buildings. Stone & Libertas fully intervened in over 10 empty buildings and added a contemporary building overlooking the Saint Jorge Castel.
Mouraria is one of Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, with constant evidence of the Moorish influence. Mouraria is also the birthplace of Fado, the Portuguese longing a sad musical interpretation, heard on the streets and hidden in small Fado houses.
Encircled by the Saint Jorge Castel, the Graça Convent and the Martim Moniz, Mouraria is the pumping heart of Lisbon. In 2010, the Lisbon City Hall kicked-off an urban renovation project focused on the Mouraria neighborhood, creating substation added value for the community and tourism.
